car will not fire up at all
my car has been sitting for quite some time now. i just drove home from work one night and then the next day, the car didnt want to start.
One thing that I noticed before the car stopped running was that the regulator in the alternator went bad so when the revs would get high enough, my headlights and interior lights would get so bright.
So I let it sit for a few months and all the car would do is just crank. I changed the battery and the spark plugs but not the alternator. Right now, the outcome is the same. The car still sits and just cranks.
Do you think the alternator wouldn't allow a car to start cause its bad? I know they keep the battery charged and if they fail then will cause the battery to die. But what about when the regulator when that fails?
Also, I do premix my motor. Will that clog my fuel filter or injectors? I fill up 8:1.

No the alternator will not prevent the car from starting. If you start a car with a bad alternator all it will do is drain the battery until it is dead and the car will die and you wont beable to crank it until the battery gets a charge. I would check compression, make sure there is fuel, air, and spark. and get a new alternator, they arent worth taking apart and rebuilding, the cost is equivelent(sp?) to just buying a rebuilt one.
EDIT: and about the regulator, i wouldnt runt he car witha bad one, there is possibility for the alternator to push too man amps, which could result in melted wires, blown fuses and a whole bunch of other ****.
