ANother annoying beep issue :icon_no2:
OK so when i bought the car the speedo and the PS werent connected. I drove the car for bout 5 or 7 mins and it started beeping at me. I freaked out and thought it was the cooolant beep cuz i didnt know any better (first Mazda & first rotary). So After i nursed it down the interstate to the house, i got online and realized that beeps werent bad, buzz's were. Ive owned the car for a lil over a month now, and ive begun to do random things here and there. Tune up, Cone filter conversion, gutted cats (already done by PO), and so on. I decided that i was gonna take off the PS and AC since they were broke and didnt work. I figured id save a few pounds and clean up under the hood a lil. SO after i get everything off (i didnt cut any wires), i get in the car and fire it up to see if itll run. As soon as it starts up, it flatlines.............................. Just one long solid beeeeeeeeeep! I got pretty used to driving around with a constant beep beep beep.... but this was just insane! The AC had a clip i undid, and the PS did too. Which one is making it beep and how do i fix it????
Also, on a side note, the new speedo cable is here and ill be fixing that this weekend.

Power steering
When it was beeping intermittently, how many beeps/cycle was it? Those beeps were telling you what was wrong with the system.
The long beep probably means a bad power steering computer - or in your case, when you disconnected everything.

Probably the power steering computer telling you there is a problem with the system. The number of beeps before pausing will indicate the problem.
1-beep, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of speed sensor signal:
In case broken wires or short circuits occur to sensors or harnesses, the buzzer sounds 60-seconds after the engine speed signal of 2200 rpm continues for 18-seconds.
2-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of engine speed signal:
The buzzer sounds twice and repeats when the vehicle speed signal is missing input and/or no engine speed signal is found (short circuit, broken wire, etc.)
3-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of stepping motor signal:
The buzzer sounds when there are broken wires or short circuits in coils or harnesses.
4-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of the power steering microcomputer:
The buzzer sounds 4 and repeats when there are circuit troubles other than with the micro computer.
5-beeps, pause, repeat - in case abnormality of steering sensor signal: Steering sensor is mis-aligned or failed or steering wheel has been improperly installed.

OK i figured that the beeps meant that there was something wrong with it. I also came to that assumption by the oily ish on the back of the pump and the BS the PO gave me about why it wasnt connected (no belt). Thats why i took it off. It would beep about 5 to 7 mins after i started driving and it would continously beep until i got to where ever i was going and turned the car off. I got used to it after a while. The new beep is just one solid whine from the moment i turn it on, to the moment i turn it off. I figured it was because of one of the clips i took off when removing the AC and PS. All i need to know now is how to get the damn thing to stop beeping

Now that i feel like a total noob!!! Get in your car and turn the key on till that damn beeping stops. Then scootch down under the steering wheel in between the clutch pedal and the seat. Right above the clutch pedal you should see a metal box with a set of wires plugged into it. That magical box should be emitting your annoying beeping sound. Reach up and unplug the clip of wires. Tada the solution to the mysterious beeping sound has been solved.
