another 5th + 6th ports thread....

alright, i need a little more understanding of this whole situation...

these open at a given rpm to let more air for high end power. they can be made to stay open at all times, but on stock cars they kill low end torque....but on modified cars the benefits of open all the time outweigh the low end power loss. is all of this correct?

if made to stay open, the pineapple sleeves would still have an effect right?

basically i have pr sleeves, and from what i understand, they just help the air flow better, if i wire my ports open, my sleeves will still help the air flow better correct?

yes... they will still help. It's better than just removing the sleeves and causing some wierd turbulence in there.

What!? no.

Don't make them stay open all the time, there is no benefit, and you *WILL* lose low end (which our car already suffers in anyhow) from doing so.

Get them working at stock specs (or better). Having them open all the time is the same as havign them broke all the time.

For the best results, working sleeves/aux port systems and Pineapple sleeves. BUT: I, and a few others of us, have decided not to use the sleaves due to certain circumstances where they ruin engines.

*leave your aux port system working* or fix it if its not. Don't wire it open because someone said it gives "more high end" because it won't give more, it will only fix them from being closed all the time to being open all the time, still broke.

kevin landers installed mine....and said "i loctited the **** out of them.....and no matter what anyone tries to do........they aint coming out" so i dont think im worried about normal engine functions making them fail.

well thats good at least... I still wouldn't wire them open though, it defeats the entire purpose (low end) of having them their.

Although I'm going to agree with Kenteth on this one, I'd suggest you try it, and see what you think of your power band.. It's only 4 #10 nuts holding the actuators on, you should be able to wire them shut/open in less than 10 minutes.

As a note, right now I am running mine on the manual setting, because of my lack of cat/emmissions system, and my lack of time to hack together a switch and solenoid, so I normally have mine wired closed. It gives me a rather nice low end, and doesn't rob my normal, every day high end TOO much. I wired it open last week when I took her for a walk at the autocross. My high end was much better, but the low-end REALLY sucked.. I mean, there was horrible lag below 2000 RPM, etc.. I'm leaving mine closed except in race situations. The gas milage also dropped pretty good...

Take the 6pi system out, that's better than just wiring them open all the time. And with the PR sleeves and the 6pi system out, it will still provide the better flow.
