Question Annoying fuel lid release problem

The topic says it all my gas lid won't release when I pull the latch on the floor. I opened the rear hatch and removed the carpet to release it from the inside and was able to open it that way. Then I sprayed some WD-40 in there and then pulled the latch a few times but it won't release on its own. I think there is too much slack in the line and was wondering how to adjust it. Please advise..

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

Yes.If you go to the other end of the the cable where the lever is you will find that the but end of the cable cover has bent its holder and you cannot get the stroke required to move the latch at the rear.Just re-adjust the holder.

Importboi22,

I wouldn't personally recommend the Centerforce, but I think its cheaper than others, that's why I got it. Go with an ACT or Clutch Masters if ya got cash. Guy on here that have had both seem to say that they're better.

I'm still fighting my fuel door. It takes a LOT of effort to get it to open. The line isn't kinked and I've greased everywhere possible. I may go try and bend that piece of metal.

What sucks is I live in Oregon where you can't pump your own gas....which is quite . So when I pull up I have to fight and get the door open, the whole time the attendant is sayin' "Hey you need to open the fuel door!"

You're absolutely right

That is so . I wouldn't want some stranger involved with a personal moment with my car. Thank god I don't live in Oregon.

Exactly. I'm moving back home to South Carolina this June and am looking forward to pumping my own gas again more than anything. I always feel like a little kid when I have to go get gas since someone else has to do it.

I had the exact same problem and tried all of these fixes to no avail. I replaced the latch assembly(its around 30 bucks from mazda). I replaced it and now it functions wonderfully. It wasnt a problem with the cable, it was the fact that the spring was bent and there was gunk buildup around the plastic retainer.

And on that off topic clutch thing, ACT SUCKS!!!! I have used centerforce stage 1 and 2 in my other 7's and they are great(not the dual friction). I currently have an ACT 4 puck in my 91 n/a and this thing blows goats, I absolutely hate it!!!
