Am I screwed?

Here's my prob. The other day I installed my new Corksport exhaust. My car ended up with a exhaust leak where the d/p meets the turbo. I used the stock nuts and gasket (note there were no washers present). I ordered a new gasket thinking this would fix my prob. Well I went to install the new gasket now I can't get the top nut off the bolt nearest the fenderwall. I think I over tightened it when I install the d/p to see if the leak would go away. The other two came off no prob....did I just screw my self and ruin the bolt that threads to turbo? I noticed the threads on the bolt only go soo far. What should I do? Do I need to replace that part of the turbo? I put washers on the other two bolts and tightened and still a leak. I'll be pissed if I find out the d/p flange isn't flat...

Did you try to take the nut off of the bolt while the turbo/dp was hot? Cuz that will seize the nut onto the bolt or crossthread it. Just put the nuts back on and deal with the leak.

If you put the other bolts back in, it will take alot of pressure off the one bolt. I had a problem like this with my talon about 2 weeks ago, removing the manifold from the turbo.

I tried taking it off when the turbo was hot. Nothing. It came off easily when I took the old exhaust off. I think if I just would of put washers on in the first place I wouldn't be having this prob. I'm pissed cuz it's my fault for over tightening and spending $50 on a gasket I can't use.

HOT NUTS = no good (coz it's all expanded and it will crossthread). DO NOT DO IT! let it cool down for a little and then proceed with the removal. and next time, use anti-seize, just a mechanic's advice...

Never take out bolts when they are hot. Wait atleast 30 min for the engine bay to cool down. Also use anti sieze, worse case scenario, well, il just say gl getting the nut off without ruining the turbo housing

Well I'm gonna try it again today when the engine cools off. I know I have a breaker bar somewhere. I dunno what to do if I can't get it off. That leak is gonna bug me.

be cafrefull not to break the stud if u do then your in trouble..

now I dont knwo on rx7 turbos but every turbo I have ever seen uses a stud so u could just unthread the entire nut and stud, buy a new stud and nut (get some washers) and reinstall then

Well I got a breaker bar and PB blast. The nut did loosen a few turns than wouldn't go no more.? Just seems odd. I used an open wrench and counted the threads. The bolt in the turbo didn't move. I managed to tighten it a lil' more, but I'm still back to square one. Which is a small leak. Where as to yest. I had a big leak. Not as annoying as yest. though where all you could here is a tick tick from inside the car. I dunno. I feel like I might break the bolt or strip the nut. I might have to live with this.
