Am I rice for wanting to do this?
I saw an ad on ebay, and got an idea. I thought of putting vinyl over my third brake light, then cutting out "Rx-7" so it shines through when the brake is applied.
Anyone think thats rice?

why do people care if other people say stuff is rice? As long as you aren't puting vtec or typeR stickers on your rx-7, do what ever you want. The only thing that bothers me is when people put stickers and single wiper conversions and other stupid mods trying to make thier car seem like it is fast.

I had a guy tell me one time his Honda Civic was pushing like 300 WHP, I mean this thing was bone stock engine wise, but he had all the looks on it, and the "TYPE R" stickers, so I said" what the stickers gave you all that horsepower huh?" He was pretty pissed off. But anyway I would think it would look good, I have thought about putting the same on mine. i wouldnt call it rice.

I am sure you can find vinyl that will very closely match any Mazda color.
I vote don't do it!

jimmyv13 Do whatever you want, it's your car. If everybody on the forum said it'd be cool if you took a **** on your hood, would you do it?
dre_2ooo we must see pics of the completed product
anyway. i dont think its ricey. my definition of "rice" is trying to make your car look like something more than it is without backing that up. so unless your car isnt an rx7 i say go for it. its an rx7 right? :p
hmm this thing looks cool

It's not rice, I did this on my black TII, black sticker covering it, looked trick. I got the format from a guy that I think is still on this forum, but I'm sure you can make your own.I have a file, I forget how to get it to work, since it's a .bin file.

Yeah, my color isn't from Mazda. I know someone makes colorshifting vinyl, but I haven't been able to get any. Of course, I haven't looked too hard, but I was thinking of using it to temporarily cover up some body work, since I an hoping for a full repaint over the winter.

Try a sign shop that can do vinyl lettering. They should have a selection of fonts and logos (might have RX7 or Mazda ready to go) to choose from. Just don't do anything "handmade", rarely does it work.
A friend of mine has a shop downtown that can do pretty much whatever you would want..
Unique- try painting a piece of enamel receptive vinyl with your cars paint. White would work nicely, but a piece of Scotchlite (that stuff on road signs) can be very interesting with paint covering it.
