Am I crazy?

Or is it common on some FC's to have the front bumper more faded than the rest of the paint? You can notice on mine, http://www.pocketmatrix.com/rob/bons-rx7/DCP_0664.jpg (louvers are gone now, although I liked them a little for some reason ). I don't think my cars ever been repainted but I've noticed in some pictures, especially S4's that the front bumper is more faded than the rest of the car?

Or am I just on crack?

It was like that on my car too... beautiful paint all around, except for fading on the bumper

got it repainted when i was having a pannel replaced (got hit while parked.... no major damage, front fender and a few scratches on the bumper)

now that its repainted it maches well

mine is black too (s5 though)

It probably does fade at different rates. My hood is slightly lighter than the rest of the body panels. I have to fix some tiny rust spots in the rear wheel well on the pass. side and I'm hoping the factory paint will match close enough to not be noticable without some eyestrain.

You're not crazy, well maybe you are but paint does fade at a different rate on plastic than metal. I read alot about this in Mazda books I have. It was a problem that Mazda recognized and made corrections with as time went on. Interestingly, red is the worst from a fading perspective. Nature of the pigment in the paint.

My bumper is only slightly faded. So is my driver side door. Pretty weird. You can only notice it a foot away though. Otherwise, Mazda OEM paint is not the greatest.

From: Los Angeles!!!! Lovely.
Ha ha and I thought I was the only one whose bumper has faded faster than the body.

Seriously, red paint does seem to fade faster, at least on plastic. The body paint on my vert is still very good, but my bumper is already turning redish white!

I actually thought that the previous owner crashed his front when I bought the vert. He denied it, of course!

My rear bumper is faded slightly, while the rest of my car doesnt seem to be. Hopefully that will not be a problem after the repaint

And what's wrong with the mad max look?

My car's bumper and mirrors are faded more than the rest of the paint... with the exception of the hood and the rust spots...

in case you didn't notice in the first post Castrol, he already did get rid of them

Personally, I think the louvers looked good, it would've been something different to see on an RX and it's not something you would've seen on a 'ricer's' car.

As for odd paint, part of my car seems to be a nice shiny white, and a couple other parts of it seem to be like egg-shell white...'89 Vert, so maybe it's just an odd mazda thing

The only thing those louvers or whatever looked good on was that super rare bimmer coupe back in the eighties that was scrapped early on. Was it the M1 or something? They're super rare, and the pics I've seen of 'em, they've all had those louvers on. Looked pretty nice. I didn't know what they were called, so I thought they were blinds, like on a window in your house.... or something...

The hood gets way more thrashed than the rest of the car...it gets baked from the inside and out and gets pummeled by crap as you drive around. That's why my hood and bumper, and sometimes front fenders get an extra coat of wax.

Did I spy a Vector as someone's icon?
Anyway, does the dealer sell factory paint? I will repaint mine soon and I want to match it exactly as I like the color but I doubt Arctic Silver is easy to match (especially seeing how they were so far off repainting the red door on the Talon)

Yes they did, it just wasn't marketed in North America. You could only get a N/A in the US and Canada in '86.

I actually believe it was called a Turbo 2 because it was the 2nd turbo rotary engine produced. There was the 12A-T in the 1st gens.
