alternator ?

I have a frankenstein FB/FC/FD with re occuring alternator issues, my power fc commander only reads high 9's low 10s battery volts at idle. Driving it reads high 13 and low 14

Can someone id this alt. ? Not sure if it is a FD or FC, or if there is a difference to start with

Rebuild or buy New ?

Also I have talked with people before who said a chevy 350 alternator can be used just the same as a mazda reccomended one.

best pic of the alternator I have, can any one tell me what gen it is ?

dam, that engine bay gives me a hard-on! it's hard to tell from the pics man, but the alternator is definitely kaput from the voltage you are getting. I say just get a used one on here for pretty cheap. go with a FD alternator cuz they put out more amps than the others, you may have to rig it up a bit though, unless that is already an FD alternator....

Never mind what the PFC says, what's the voltage measured at the battery with a DMM? Most EFI systems will simply shut off below 10V.
