Alt & Air pump mounts: weird sizes on this water pump?

So I put everything from my engine block onto a new block except the OMP and water pump.

Now it seems the mount for the alternator is smaller than it should be, and the bracket arm that was on there is too small for the alternator.. the bracket arm from mine is fine, but how do I line up the alternator since the mount is too small, the bolt goes through but has about 1/2" of play.

Same for the water pump.

bump, can anyone answer? Need to get this taken care of since it's pretty much the only thing holding me back from starting it up!

I hate to dig this back up, but did you ever figure this out? I just dropped another engine in my FD and the bottom bolt that goes through the alt bracket for the water pump does not line up either. I was just going to make a custom bracket...

Aren't the front side housings slightly different between the generations? Could that be the cause?

I must have an s5 front instead of an FD or something... Everything else looked OK...

I don't think it has anything to do with the housings... but I have the two water pumps still... they're definately different, I have no idea whats up.. I haven't had time to screw around with the alternator considering my S5 one works fine for now... so my FD one is just collecting dust. =(

You can make a custom bracket, that's what I was eventually going to resort to... I wish I knew what was causing this problem though.
