Throw it away.
It's a piece of junk.
Even a $50 "Rockwood" piece of junk aftermarket unit is better than the stock one.

My 87 TII had 3 amps. One under the glove box (on the right side of the car since mine is a left hand USA drive... don't know what side of the car you sit on!). The one under the glove box powered the front two speakers. Each rear speaker had its own amp built into the box with the speaker.

I bypassed all of them and used a cheap aftermarket head unit with "built in" amps (they all have this now). Sounded the same or better and it would play CDs

I wasn't aware that the FC's had external amps. I guess I better rewire my car. And yeah a new head unit will sound tons better.

Previous owner of my GXL threw out the old speakers and replaced them with some good aftermarkets, so I didn't have the rears, but I did rip out the front amp under the glovebox and all the wires and plugs.

Right now my stereo isn't using any of the stock wiring, I pretty much bypassed it all. I'm using a relay to run power from the battery to the headunit, and a good thick speaker wire for all four corners.

Yep, they are technically 3 amp units.
The front speakers are controlled by a single amp unit that is housed in the same plastic "box" as the passenger front speaker.
The rear speakers have an amp "circuit board" each located in the speaker shock tower.

teh 7's stereo system isn't all that confusing untill you get to teh convertibal's package system i'm still trying to figure out how i could put a after market deck in and still have workign head rest speakers

i already have a difrent amp for the door speakers but its only pulling sound from th front speakers instead of the factory channel because i have already spent enuff time trying to figure out ware witch wire goes to and the stock amp for the door speakers is in between a rock and a hard place
