For all guys with the RB header...

i think i'm gonna order one tomorrow. but i've been looking on their site

(http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16130) and in this pic i don't see an O2 sensor housing. am i just not looking hard enough? or is the real header different?

also, isn't there some small plate that comes with the header to block off something on that side of the motor? ACV plate or something?

thanks for the help

I have a RB and a pacesetter header they both have o2 holes in them. The RB came with a block off plate. make sure to get a pre silencer with it, you will notice a huge difference it will pull all the way to redline no leveling off.

thanks for the reply i'm not getting a presilencer...just probably taking out some length in the Bonez superflow system i have now. (basically taking out the "downpipe" part of it)

what is the "block off plate" for?

hey Erik, I just thought this will help you on setting up your RB Header and Bonez exhaust. This is how I did it.

The block off plate is used if you remove your air control valve.Since you're keeping your cat you'll probably want to leave your ACV on as well as the air pump to supply fresh air to the cat. That is if the Bonez cat needs the air supply. And as stated before the header does have a place for theO2 sensor you just can't see it in the pic 'cause it's on the other side of the collector.

wow, thanks for the pic man...that was EXACTLY what i was planning on doing...

is it really worth getting a header, though? am i gonna gain any power otherwise besides maybe 7-8K? or will i lose even more torque since the N1 is quite big on the piping.........?

I just got my header installed yesterday
the thing is loud and sweet sounding.
my car is running like **** right now though
real rich

but the car still seems to pull harder through the whole RPM band.

what is louder the N1 dual or a RB header and presilencer?

how loud is the N1 dual with a header install?

Its loud let me tell you

with the n-1 and a header and gutted cat its a nice tone just loud you might like my buddy does but i dont so i took the header off for now untill i get the presilencer (hopes that will help ) and we will see ,the separate tubes on the header make a considerable differnce in loudness the stick manifold kinda scambles the exhaust tone and then spits it out ......

HENRX7 I was thinking of doing the same. I was just wondering where you had it cut and welded and how much you had to cutoff? Thanks in advance.

I let the muffler shop do it for me since I don't have any welding skills But it should be pretty easy to measure once your header is already installed. Just measure the distance between the header and the y-pipe and use this length for cutting the main cat. i asked them to use the flange on the neck so they can weld it on the other end of the main cat. Once the fabrication of the main-cat is done, it should be an easy bolt-on piece.

But if i were you, I'm just gonna get a pre-silencer if you're not worrying about emmision s***. The header won't let you pass emmission anyway if they do visual inspection. Actually, i'm gonna do that and keep my fabricated cat just in case it becomes too loud with the pre-silencer. Oh well, it's hella loud now anyway

Thanks for the info. I think Im gonna stay with the cat for now though. I have to pass an emissions test here in NJ so Im hoping I can do it with the cat. Also I am hoping that with the cat my 6 ports will still work. Its probably jsut a dream though.

Hey guys, I have the Racingbeat downpipe, midpipe, and presilencer installed, with the stock header, my N1 is in the mail. First questions is will the N1 bolt right up to the midpipe? I dont see why not the stock y pipe did and the N1 is a stock replacement right? Also with this setup what kind of tone can
I expect from the system? Deep, tinny, loud I have never heard one so it's going to be a suprise.

Right now, I am using the air pump to operate my 6-port. It's working great for me. I'll post some pix and how to later on.

yeah man, the N1 will bolt directly up to the mid pipe. i guess the tone of the turbo one will be a bit different...but my tone is nice and deep. above 6K or so it screams more...but down low it sounds MEAN

so is the header worth it guys??? will i even see a difference in power over the mods that i have now??????? HELP! haha

What is a presilencer that you guys keep talking about??
Does it add more power?? Is it for a street legal car???
How much more does it cost??

the presilencer is a pipe that connects from the Racing Beat header to the y-pipe or catback. i don't think it has a cat on it...so for the states that have emissions it would make it illegal. i think its mostly used in the racing beat applications since its the exact length you need to connect the header to the catback.

oh, also...for the price, look on www.racingbeat.com

erik you went in my car with my ultrahigh quality pacesetter header. now it revs alot faster smoother since jr fixed my throttle that an unkown shop *KDR* installed incorrectly. just get it and buy an inspection sticker like i did. as long as you have the cat you will still have some lowend torque. you know you love my weedwacker on crack exhaust noise

I don't have any proof, but the header should give you more power than the exhaust manifold, especially in high RPMs. The only thing you'll prolly lose a bit of low-end torque.

just trying to help

It's basically just a straight thru muffler. So in a sense it is a pre-muffler.It replaces the cat so you couldn't pass emisions with it on.

I am planning on goin dual very soon.. I just orderd a paceseter header (I know I know...) but I am cutting off the collector, then using dual Borla X-1 or Silver Bullets as presilencers. they are stainless, and won't melt. this goes back to a pair of stainless Edelbrock RPM mufflers. The edelbrocks are straingt through, and don't really have a deep sound exept at idle. I may have made a mistake with them....Oh well. I just tell people it was the chainsaw in the passenger seat.
I am guessing that 2" is the proper tubing Di for duals?
For you guys planning on duals- Don't use regular muffler shop aluminized tubing for anything before the rear axle!!! Rotary exhaust is so loud that you can actaully head a tinny sound coming THROUGH the pipe, and under the car....... Order stainless pipe and a few mandrel bends and fabricate it yourself or have a shop do it... Cheaper, thinner gauge tubing just isn't worth it.

yes

2" tubing is correct. Hey, I have a bonez pipe to. wouldnt it be good to cut that out and use it for a presilenser for people with rb head single. Just a thought.
