Are all 86-91 rear brake calipers the same? Even the ones that use the wider vented hubs? They look very much alike to me. I am just assuming that the vented must open wider? Please let me know if there is a size or manufacturer difference.

hmm..

Well, some have four piston fronts, some have single piston fronts. I think all RX-7's came with ventilated disks all around.

The four lug model brakes were also different, I think.

Oh shoot, sorry I misread the title. I didn't read the word "rear". :p

I think they're all the same, with the possible exception of the four lug versus five lug brakes.

let me explain further to help get an answer. I plan to do the 4 to 5 lug / 4 piston(front) caliper swap. Right now I have solid rear disks. The rears that I am swaping are vented (several mm wider). I would like to reuse the current rear calipers if they are the same. Someone must know. Nasically is there ANY difference in REAR calipers from 86-91 ALL MODELS (gxl,Turbo,se,etc...)?????

Run a couple searches, there should be some documentation on the 4 to 5 lug conversion. I'd help you more, but I've never had a 4 lug car so I never needed to know how to do it.

thanks Mykl, I ran a few searches and couldnt find any results that confirm or deny. I am sure someone on the forum must have the skinny on Mazdas rear calipers. I can't imagine that they made them all the same, but you never know......?

Well, if nobody helps you in this thread start one along the lines of "four to five lug conversion". If somebody tells you to run a search, or gives you ****, just tell them to stick it in their pooper and that you couldn't find anything.

It's a topic that used to be on the board a lot, but I haven't seen it come up in a while.
