Has anyone ever know about this. I know about the seatbelt recall. But look at this

Defect: THREADED INFLATOR COMPONENTS MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY WHICH MAY ALLOW COMPONENTS TO SEPARATE WHEN INFLATOR RECEIVES A SIGNAL TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAG.
Consequences: INFLATOR COMPONENT SEPARATION ALLOWS HOT COMBUSTION GASES TO ESCAPE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURIES TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
Corrective Action: REPLACE AIR BAG MODULES CONTAINING POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE INFLATORS.

Interesting... so this only affects 'Verts built on November 1, 1989? (I actually think my '90 GTU was built on that same day, but no airbag of course.)

I've never heard of such a narrow recall. I wonder if this means that Mazda figured out some guy who only worked on the assembly line for one day was putting in the airbag modules incorrectly?
