Air pump w/ aftermarket cone filter

I have an after market air filter installed but it doesn't have an option for connecting the top hose from the air pump. Would it be better to plug the air hose off or just let it be open to the atmosphere or is it necessary for the air pump hose to be connected in some manner?

Breather vent filters fit. Check your local auto parts store.

Ya,as Black said..I got one at "Canadian Tire"(chain store in Canada) for 6 bucks.it is a roundish Black Ball sort of affair, with a hole it it,and a Tube to Go onto the Pipe...the filter is Washable so it is a good little deal!...it fits Perfect on the Inlet hose, and you can Hardly see it at all.

Thanks guys, I never even thought of going that route. I'll check the parts store tomorrow.

Where did you get the adapter to put the filter on?

Take the AP hose with you to the parts store. Specter made a cylindrical breather filter that fit my hose with a little coercing.

Does the airpump blow air out of that tube or suck air in from the intake?

Buy a miniature air filter like pictured above. It won't hurt it to run without a filter for a while.

You don't need the little plastic tube, you can mount it right off the pump's metal intake tube.

That's what I did. Autozone also sells a MAF adaptor that has an inlet for the air pump hose. Was $12 last time I was down there. It's in the same section as the cone filters and neon underglow kits lol.
