After changing the water pump on my S4 i installed all the belts and fired her up.

Everything seemed fine until I started to smell smoke.

Started peeping around and noticed there was a steady stream of smoke coming from the air pump bolt. I have a picture to illustrate the problem.

Any ideas?

Was it hot to the touch?

 

Didnt touch the bolt lol

But have you seen anything like this?

Is that belt supposed to be really tight? maybe I over tightened it.

 

I don't see how an overtight belt would heat up the mounting bolt.
I asked if you touched it because it seems more likely that something dripped onto it and caused smoke rather than the bolt itself getting so hot it smoked (a condition I can't even imagine...).

Does the air pump spin freely?

 

Maybe it was just some coolant...haha.

But yeah the pump does spin freely. Ill double check it.
