air pump removal

I want to remove my air pump. I know that I am going to need block off plates for the air control valve. but what else needs to come off? also know that I need the dual alternator pulley. My real question is do the actuators on bother sides of the air control valve get removed as well? please any tips would be great. thanks

I noticed on the ebay link that I can get block off plates for my egr and bac etc... if I removed my air pump do those have to come off as well? If I do remove them do I have to adjust anything like fue/air ratio or anything else?

On an NA, you're aux ports won't work anymore. On a T2, without a cat, you can remove it just fine. Just unbolt it from the block and take off the belt.

You need to make sure you RTV really well around the ACV, or else it will cause a vacuum leak.

For the BAC, is this a daily driver, w/ AC? The BAC acts as an idle stabilizer, aka makes you're car NOT stall when you turn on the AC. If you have AC, I'd say not to remove this...

WHOA - Just read thru you're first post. The comment about "acuators". This leads me to believe you have an NA, not a turbo..without the airpump and ACV, you're aux ports will NOT function properly. Either leave them, or wire the aux ports up electronically.

For about the one millionth time, only the S5's 6PI system is actuated by the air pump. S4's use exhaust backpressure.

Having said that, IMO any S4 with an open exhaust should have it's 6PI system converted to run off air pump pressure of some other pressure source. Lowering exhasut backpressure will always result in the auxiliary ports opening later than they should. Keep the air pump and rig up an electronic system to control when they open. Then you can set the opening time to the optimal point in the rev range.

ok man based on that I would say you are gonna wanna do a lot of reading about your car before you daily drive/weekend race it... and mmm... yeah if you don't know what the aux ports are you wanna read about your car some more after that...

don't mean to sound like a jackass sorry if I did, but you should know your car before you get to removing stuff on it.

Whats optimal rev range in the s5? Does that apply to the s5 or is the air pump gonna make its magic at the optimal time?

sorry for st00pido question

The S5 ECU operates the 6PI solenoid at 3850rpm. The actuators only need 1.4psi to fully open the aux ports, so they should open straight away. On a S4 DIY system you need can either set the rpm switch to 3800-3900rpm and be happy with it, or experiment to see if there's a better spot. The ideal way to do this is with back-to-back dyno runs, with one run done with the ports closed and one done with them open. Where the two curves cross is the ideal activation point.
