air pump port activation without ACV

im doing emissions removal on my 87 N/A and im wondering if i can still use the air pump to open the 5th and 6th ports without having the act valve? how would i do this? also, is there a way i can convert to the s5 air pump activation system?
Thanks!

The airpump has nothing to do with the aux ports opening on a series four. The exaust system has EVERYTING to do with the opening of the aux ports on a series four i.e. the backpressure from the catalytic converter to the feed pipe for the aux actuators via the split air pipe.

The airpump can be used by itself to open the aux ports on a series four. You need a couple of things to do that. One would be a rpm activated switch, a couple of pieces of vacuum hose and a valve/solenoid to be actuated by the rpm switch.; That valve can be just like the ones on your car presently, like the EGR solenoid.

You punch a hole in the hose b/t the airpump and ACV and install a plastic nipple. 'Run a hose from there to the solenoid. Run another hose from the solenoid to the feed pipe for the aux valves.

SummitRacing sells a very good and cheap rpm switching device. Buy it. I saw on this very forum yesterday a fellow who wanted to sell his old SummitRacing rpm switch for ten bucks.

I've no idea what a *act* valve is.
