New to the RX7 - What to look for?

Whats up everyone;
I am new to the RX7 world and ever since I drove a GEN 1 I fell in love with the thing but I like the Gen 2 body better. I recently came across one for sale/trade. The owner says its has a new engine in it with about 37k miles.

Is there a list of anything that I should be looking for before getting the car. Or things that I should watch out for?!?

-Compression test is a must
-Look for rust behing the front wheels, uneder the wheel well in the body, also the rear fenders are a critical point
-Look to see if the coolant is orange (bad maintenance)
-Are the OMP lines full?
-Open the radiator cap when the car is cold, start the car and look for bubbles. If you see bubbles comin up, do not touch that car.
Be sure you have stable income, a 20 year old RX7 is a money pit when you love it.

And since this is your first post, I will tell you how it works around here. People are great here, but not that all patient with people that dont search. So use the faq, aaron cakes site and rotary ressurection also has probably all the answers you are looking for.

Your speacial gold coin is now used.

Take care of your FC!

how much are u getting it for? n/a or turbo?

see if he has any paperwork for the "new engine" or for that matter, a lot of dedicated owners have a "maintence binder" with all the maintenence work ever done while owning the car. ask if he has anything like that.

but yeah, looking for a blown engine should be number one.. drive it and see if there are any vibrations or irregularities.

ask when it was last smogged and ask to see the papers. do a vin check for clean title.

and one other thing.. is the guy an old man or woman.. or a shifty eyed youngster trying to get rid of a rotten 7.. if u get my point

and yeah.. some ppl are kind of mean to newbies sometimes cuz they dont search. cuz u can search the entire forum for topics that ur inquiring about. so sometimes ppl will not even answer u or they'll say search kind of like the second post of this thread.

uh oh. *runs around like a headless chicken* wait, was it the gay comments?? ugh, i hate having to watch what I say because a bunch of ladies can't take a joke.

oh well, I hope not, but then again, who knows, I might get banned.

If it's worth anything I am speaking the truth. The older members might agree but then again who knows.

^^^Sometimes I think this guy just comes on here to flame people! What the heck are you talking about? This is a non-sensical flame even!

Anyways , welcome to the forum! Check out AaronCake.net, he's got a crapload of good information on there, and one specific item about buying a used seven. Be sure to read the FAQ's and search search search.... then search some more, then google it before you ask about swapping in a TII!! Good luck, and be ready to throw down some dough!
