Air pump hose routing

I've been looking through the service manual and am having trouble finding the answer. I swapped engines a few months ago and haven't driven the car much since. The engine I swapped in didn't have working 5 and 6 ports and the air pump system was removed, so I'm working on that now.

Got everything back together, but I can't remember where the tube from the bottom of the intake manifold goes.

Air pump has a tube that goes to the intake, and another tube that goes to the side of the intake manifold - that was gone and blocked when I got this engine - it's back on now, but it's got another hose barb at the bottom that I thought went to the catalytic converter, but the air tube for the cat seems to be plugged into the back of the engine. So where does this other one go? The only other thing that seems likely, oddly enough, is there's a hose that's going back toward the front of the car. Anyone know off the top of their head?

Thanks for your help!

Richter

Sorry I didn't specify, I didn't know that s5's came in 6 port. It's an s4. Thanks for the response, I answered my question - I went through the boxes of parts that I had and found the extension hose that leaves the bottom of the intake manifold and connects to that tube in the front I mentioned earlier.

It is the SILENCER for the ACV. It goes from the bottom of the ACV to the SILENCER in the right front fender. S4 and S5. Pictures in the FSM. ONline and free.

Gotcha, figured it out now - just couldn't tell from the pictures in the service manual.

on an s4 6th ports are opened up by exhuast backpressure not air pump
the air pump is just putting drag on your motor and slowing you down. so i do not see why you are putting it back on

youll need a dual belt alternator pulley so that the belt does not squeek you can go to
www.mazdaracing.com for that though

First of all, air pump takes almost no power from the engine, I believe like .5 hp. Secondly, the exhaust back pressure MAY be enough to open the ports, it's not always a given. My exhaust is too free flowing for it to work off of just that. If you've got aftermarket exhaust and your ports aren't working, there's a really good way to get them to do it again, and it requires no skill or time.

Well mostly because A. Dallas checks emissions as part of inspection, no pump = no sticker - and B. removing emissions controls isn't a legal modification for the Solo II class I race in. When I start placing high I don't want anyone whining that my car is illegal because it doesn't have that airpump on it.

Yeah, I've got a free flowing exhaust too, 3" down to 2 1/2" duals. It's way overkill and I'll probably step down to a lighter single exhaust when I get a little extra time and cash to redo it, I went so big because I was planning on adding the turbo and I didn't want to have to do it twice - ironically since I decided NOT to go to a turbo I'll have to do it again to save weight.
