Talking Air pump and electric window questions...

1. Air pump question--Hello. I was wondering if the 2 aux ports were controlled by the air pump(is it needed) or are they activated from backpressure from the exhaust... pretty much, if I take my pump off, will the ports still open?

2. Window Question--When rolling up driver window, the window comes like half way up and then starts to slip... When I say slip, I mean it goes up a little bit, then falls back down over and over again... When I took the assembly off, it seems as if the plastic thing with the notches or grooves was all stripped. So when I gets to that point it cant support the weight of the window... Is this one piece replaceable? Also, what is the name of the part and where might I find one... Thanks.

The window regulators are replaceable, find the whole assembly at a junk yard.

your profile says you have an 88, so your ports are opened by backpressure.

That's right, but you may get some slipping (from the belt) on your waterpump pulley.

If you remove the air pump, you also need to remove the stock cat. Most of the time, the cat-back has enough pressure to activate the ports. But if it is aftermarket, sometimes it will not. So then you need to either get a header with a fitting for the ports, or use the airpump to actuate them. No real gains from removing the pump anyway, and it just creates other problems.

Oh... you see, right now I have the CS single exhaust and was going to buy a midpipe. I have read somewhere about buying an electric air pump to actuate the ports, how would I go about doing this? is there a write up on it.

Very few aftermarket catbacks will open the ports, and I doubt the Corksport one will. There is a writeup in the archives for electronic port actuation.

As for your water pump pully, it could be the belt or the bearings. Pull off the belt and inspect it. If the belt looks OK, try to rock the pully back and forth. If there is movement, then replace the pump as the bearings are shot. If you have removed the air pump and thus only have one belt over the water pump pully, you need to get a dual belt alternator pully and run two belts. One belt does not have enough grip to spin the pump.
