hey i just made an intake for my car and i wanna get rid of my air pump but after i take it off what should be done? someone told me that i have to somehow keep the secondary ports open or somethin like that i have an 87 well try and tell me please im trying to learn more bout my car im only 17 well thanks in ahead of time

The air pump on a Series 4 car (1986-88) is used to pump air to the catalytic converters to keep them cool and clean. You need to simply remove the air pump, unless you have the stock cats. If you remove the pump, you can destroy your cats!!!!!!!!!! If you remove the cat, gut it, or put in a racepipe, you will need to wire open the auxillary intake ports, as they are backpressure activated, and will no longer open, destroying your top end power. Hope this helps!!

 

If you get rid of the airpump, you might as well by a block-off plate and remove the ACV.
