air pump
'88 13bt manual,
how do i go about removing the air pump?? whats it there for and what happens if i remove it?? do i hae to block any lines or anything?? was it ment to have a hose on it so it can suck air from somewhere....mine just sucks air from the engine bay but it looks like it may have had a pipe on it once. does it go to the factory BOV. ?? as that ha a hose partthe same size.....
on another note......does the connecting wire for the O2 sensor in the exhaust come from the loom almost behind the alternator, My car came only just running with many vac. lines and wires left unconnected.

Air pump is used to keep the cat from overheating. If it is not connected and you have your stock cats still on, they will be clogged or worse soon.

Gotta take off the 3 bolts holding on the airpump bracket, and the bolt underneath the airpump, that allows it swivel(for tightening and loosening the belt). You can slide the belt behind the fan, no need to take the fan off or cut the belt. If you take off the airpump, you either gotta plug the hole going into the ACV, or remove the ACV and block it off. The airpump normally takes air from the stock intake. There should be a hose going from the intake box to the top of the airpump. If not, its OK, just put on a miniture lawn-mower filter or something. The airpump IS needed for emissions and without it, you will clog up your catylitic converter pretty quick. Hope this helps.
