Question air intake and air flow meter????

I have a 1988 10th Ann. I bought the replacement air intake
made by HKS. Now my car wont even start when i put the stock air box on. I think its the air flow meter. This would be the second time my air flow meter took a crap. What do i need to do to be able to use the new intake system. Step by step would be the best but just any info would help. am i doing something wrong IM GOIN CRAZY...

I know this sounds obvious, but I always forget to reconnect the AFM before starting my car for the first time after taking my intake off. Also make sure you don't have an intake leak from anywhere. Did you reconnect the boost pressure sensor vaccuum hose back up? How about the two hoses that come off the intake elbow that go to the BAC and wherever the other one goes?

That's the same thing mine did when I changed to the HKS intake
I tested the AFM, it was dead, but it works fine now after I repalced it.

OK - I've just bought a new filter too and I wanna know if I have to bypass the intake sensor/butterfly it put the filter in after that.

can I by pass it or do I have to leave it in and if I do have to leave it in then how do I hook up the filter after that?

If you didn't forget to rehook-up the AFM, then I would check one thing. Check the AFM connector and make sure that all the little connectors in there are in place in the connector. On my car one of the little connectors was pushed back so it couldn't make a good connection to the pin on the AFM.

JerrardB, the device behind the filter is the Air Flow Meter (AFM). This is required for your engine to run. It gives the CPU information on how much air the engine is sucking in.
