The seals must be clearanced for the engine...This would constitute machining.

The only seals that must be clearanced are side seals when replaced with new ones...these get filed down slowly by hand, not machining.

update: hypnytz came out and did a nice job...we had it goin for a while but as soon as he left, it flooded (as he said it would) and I did everything to get it started and I just cant do it. I also had to replace the leaky hoses on my oil cooler and I got that taken care of at a hydrolic joint which was way cheaper than buying lines from the manufacturer. About another week and my baby should be in full swing again...hopefully.

Yeah he has a few more problems than just a bad engine(now good) before it is driveable, so I guess Im going back after it in a few days to bring it up to the shop and go through it here, where I have time adn supplies, and plenty to drink, and an air conditioned garage

Yes, to those who doubted me once before about engine removal and installation, *with a transmission attatched might I add*(forum members name not to be mentioned, but you know who you are :-)

I arrived there at 9am, and using hand tools only(no air like I have here) I had the engine and tranny sitting on the pavement at 10:30am. Had it back in and starting up at 1pm. IN the 90+* heat, with no help or air tools. TO those who said its easier to pull an engine without the tranny being dropped out of the car or taken out with the motor, there ya go. Anybody willing to attempt my record?

Sniper? anyone? lol...

just playing with you guys.

How much did the engine cost. I'm thinking about buying a TII. Are the N/A an TII engines the same?

How much did the engine cost
About $1400 with a heavy streetport. This did not include delivery or mobile installation.

Are the N/A an TII engines the same
Now, if the NA and t2 engines were teh same, would there be any difference between an NA adn a turbo II?

They are very different, and you basically need to either get a complete turbo II engine adn rebuild it, or just stick with your NA stuff. IF youre thinking of trying to make an NA engine run a turbo, check out aaron's thread at the top of this forum about NA-turbo install to see what all is required. Also, the entire driveline, from flywheel back, is different from a turbo II to an NA.

Steve,

As I said in my email, I have not been at the shop to work on it due to other emergencies and conflicts. I know I promised to have it done quickly, but it just hasnt happened that way due to things out of my control, and I am only one man that can do it for you so you'll just have to be patient and allow me time to get it right.

IN other words, relax a little and "dont call us, we'll call you" when its ready to go. I can assure you that your car has not been rolled off a cliff or anything in that manner. I know you needed your car and were having to rent a car to replace it, which is why *I am not charging you another dime of labor to tow the car 250 miles through the mountains to my shop, do all the necessary work that it needed on top of installing the new engine, fine tune it, and possibly even tow it back to you again if you cannot find a way to come and get it once its done.* I see this as a partial reimbursement(lack of further charges) for the fact that youre probably having to bu a ride or rent the "street machine" a few extra days in the meantime. IF I were charging extra labor then I would refund some of it to cover those costs, but since IM not charging anything at all then I have nothing to refund do I?

Again, *I will let you know when it is ready*. I dont always keep my phone on me while working, and sometimes when it rings constantly all day I get tired of it and turn the bitch off so I can get something done.

I didn't get an email :\ Do you know a rough estimate of when it'll be done so I can plan on renting a car?

I sent an email last night.

"Steve,

I just got your voice messages(no car charger for the phone). I have been
out of state this week(massachussetts) adn just got back home about 2 hours
ago. I am very sorry I have not had your car done sooner...I had a friend
with an emergency over the weekend, my help did not show up to assist in the
emergency rescue(he had been here helping again last week), then I had to go
out of state for my parents this week. I'll need at least all day tomorrow
to get your car straightened out, well hopefully only one day anyway. As for
bringing it down to you, well, honestly I was sort of hoping you could find
a ride up this way to pick it up once I give the green light that all is
running smoothly. IF that isnt possible, Ill try to make arrangements to
bring it to you as soon as I get time, but please realize I have other
commitments as well of people in a big hurry, just like you about 2 weeks
ago :-)

IM sorry for not getting it doen as quick as I hoped I could have, but ****
happens, and like I said Im not getting paid any more for any of this
anyway(I will not charge you anything extra for this) so I can only do what
time allows between other jobs and family commitments, especially during
this holiday weekend."

I think something may be wrong with your mailbox, as Ive gotten the last 2 or 3 emails bounced back to me, even though this one did not bounce.

Anyway like I just said in *another* email to you, Im gonna try for tomorrow or Saturday. Note that Ill be working on my holiday weekend
to get it done.

Just an update...the car is back on the road crankin away. It a has a little lag to it but that's just cause it needs to be broken in. I did buy another more reliable car while I'm getting the RX back to life. Kevin did great work on it and was very helpful so if anyone has a broken RX, give him a buzz.

Still going good then? OH, you will have a bit of lag, even after it is broken in, because it is a fairly large SP. IT takes a lot away form the bottom end.

WTF does this have to do with this 2 1/2 YEAR OLD thread about BLOWN ENGINES?

TO answer the question, you have several options. 1) search. 2) read threads in the archive posted above. 3) check out the tech writeup at www.rotaryresurrection.com ---> tech ---> unflooding.
