AHHHHHH...HELP...I think I blew a rotor!
I'm going to kill that mechanic. Ok first he locks my keys in my car cause he didn't realize I had an aftermarket alarm system. One would think being a Mazda DEALERSHIP, they would have a spare. But noooooooooo...not this place. I have to go all the way out there and drop off a key for them to get in my car. When I did, I talked to the mechanic briefly...he looked like a damn moron btw. He told me he should be done running the tests by 4 today and then he'll give me a call. So 4 goes by...then 5...then 5:30, so then I call them. What do ya know...he left for the day and no one there can tell me what the hell is going on with my car. I mean seriously...who runs a place like this. I'm so gonna complain after they do what they gotta do with my car. If there was competition I would definitely go there but wouldn't ya know it...no one else around here knows anything...bleh.
Just an update...after they ran the tests they concluded it was one of my rotors that went bad. They want $4200 to replace it. So now I'm looking at buying a new/used car. Wish me luck.
remember earlier you were told
IF it does turn out to be engine problems I can probably get you an engine rebuilt for $1000 or so, give or take, so keep that in mind as well...dont junk it out or sell it just because of engine problems. Feel free to contact me if I can help...hypntyz@charter.net
Yeah, if need be I can bring my stuff down there and do the install there, but its nice when someone can bring their car here.

Hey guys I'm new to the forum. I don't have an RX-7 but I'm thinking about buying one. The only problem is that I don't know if it's worth all the engine trouble I've heard about. How often do you have your car in the shop. I'm talking regular wear and tear. Not fixin it up. I heard that if I get the engine port and polished that I shouldn't have any trouble with it. I know that can't be true. I'm always gonna have trouble with engines. But does port and polishing lessen the trips to the shop?
P&P doesnt have anything to do with engine longevity really.
When/if you buy a rx, go ahead and plan on getting it rebuilt regardless of its condition. Once that's done, not much else will fail. Once theyve been put right(such as what I try to do when reinstalling an engine) they generally stay there unles tinkered with, or not maintained. Out of several chevrolet cavaliers, s-10 trucks, camaros, a toyota Celica, the rx-7 has been the MOST RELIABLE cars I have ever been around. IF you buy a junker, it will need to be repaired before it can be called reliable, but once again, once theyre put right by someone with experience, they stay that way.

Is it possible to get a turbo upgrade? *wink wink*
Becuase you have to change the wiring harness, the instrument cluster (if you want to look stock) and the computer, also the transmission and the drive shaft!
but im probably overreacting...

also if i have been rebuilding engines for a number of years what does it take to rebuild a rotary how much harder
and also does it need to be machined if it isnt blown yet or can i just replace all the seals??..
