AHHH A/C Exploded or somethin :)

I started my car up today, drove it a couple feet, and I hear a boom and smoke or steam goes EVERYWHERE. The car still runs fine but my A/C doesn't work. What the hell did I do.

Check to see if pressure in A/C system. A line could of let go. Be careful-Freon dangerous.

check the a/c lines under the hood. There will be 2 places to release the freon, one on each major line. Take the little black **** off the take a screwdriver or something like that to the needle that is there (just like letteing air out of a tire) If nothing comes out then something is wrong. Cover your hand and make sure its not spraying close to you face. Also do it out side.

it's a o-ring, My car did the same thing. The o-ring coming from the compressor or the one at the top of the a/c, my o-ring got old and i guess it just rotted and let the freeon come out. I converted it R134 or what ever a long tme ago too.... i'll take pics and post them.

Take it to a shop. They'll put a small charge in and find the leak. Replace faulty hose(?) and recharge with R-12 which is very expensive, or good time to convert to 134.
