Aftermarket Temp Gauge

Ok I bought an aftermarket temperature gauge to measure my temp better. So whats the ideal temperature I should be lookin for? what temperature is too high? I bought it because my car has been heatin up abit and Im gonna flush the radiator and add new coolant and water. Thank you in advance for a reply.

Sorry to bring this dead thread back but I have a question. Hehe I still havent put the gauge in. I was wondering....after reading the instructions 2-3 times I still cant figure out where exactly to connect the gauge to. Can someone please post a picture of where I gott connect the sensor to? Im sorry this is a n00b question but I sort of am a n00b when it comes to mechanic stuff like this.

The ideal spot is the water pump housing under the thermostat. You need to remove the pump so you can drill and tap a new hole for the sensor.
