Aftermarket Air intake on S4 NA

Hey guys, Currently my GXL is mostly stock, and I was going to have a shop fabricate me a new air intake. I know this involves removing the stock airbox, etc.

I live in FL so Emissions isn't a huge problem, but Iknow there is one hose that runs from the airbox to another part of the engine (im learning the way of rotaries plz dont flame me).

So my question is, obviously when they fabricate the new intake, the stock airbox is going out the window. whats the purpose of that small hose that goes from the stock airbox to somewhere in the engine?

Will the car be able to run with that taken out? what does it go to anyway?

that smnall hose is to your air pump .... u need to keep ypur air pump for your car to work correctly ... but that doesnt nessarily mean u need to have the hose going into your air cleaner .... just hook up and crank case breather to the hose thats what i did .. i used a cheepo apc one but it works just fine ... so yeah good luck with that

Keep the shroud that goes around the fan, without it your car wont cool very well.

You may also consider having the filter outside of the engine bay(true cold air) or build a box that houses it away from the heat of the engine and lets in cool air from outside via a duct. A drop in flter is best, better than most setups that have a pipe with a filter exposed in the engine bay which accually take away horsepower because of heat saok.

I can't find where he said he was going to remove it ????

And the reason for the stock airbox making more power has nothing to do with heat soak...Heat soak is when metals hold heat. A filter sucking in hot air from a hot engine bay does not equal heat soak..

usually when people say they want to remove the air box they also remove the shourd.

And yes the filter can be soaked with heat from the engine bay and cause power loss it has been covered countless times.

Umm...yes it does. Please do a search on air intake. I GUARANTEE you will find plenty of information about it.

And how many times do we need to endure a "putting an intake" on my car thread? This has been covered a million and a half freaking times...
