After 2 weeks, The T2 is up and running with about 5 psi more boost
Im went into my project hoping for about a few hps and atleast 2 psi of boost. well according to my boost gauge (after market) im now boosting at about 10 psi. and the idle has finally stablized. well to give some insight this is what i did .
I first started my project in taking out the air pump when i found that the previous owner had removed the cat. so oh well there goes the air pump. I took out the air pump and read a few things online about removing the rest of the air muffler system( the thing located under the passenger side headlight. well then i thought ,, hell i ll just take out the acv while i was at it .. So while doing that i accidently dropped a nut into the opening for the turbo. well i wasnt really that mad. i was more mad that i didnt cover the opening. but i thought hey since i was gonna port the waste gate anyway .. now is the best as time of any . so i pulled the turbo and while porting the wastegate i thought .. hell .,, maybe ill port match the inlet on the hot side of the turbo. so i did. so with everything off i thought i would make the bay look a little preetier. so i high temp painted the shields and what not( big mistake ,.,. got home painted and found out after the whole sha bang that it was the lower high temp paint and not the 1300 deg. paint. so now its burning off the sheilds slowly and off my new installed Down pipe that the previous owner threw in the back of the car for me .. thanks tony. hehe well i put on the down pipe to. when i was removing the o2 sensor i tried to discconect it ,. well it crumbled in my hand. so i bought a universal bosch one for like 17 bucks. hardwired that as well . and i put a k&n filter on instead of the stock air box. and tommorow will be the custom tid. but now i have about 10psi of boost when i was only getting 5 at best before. and my idle is now stable. i think the o2 sensor was shot and thats why the idle sucked. the only really bad thing i forgot to do was to hook up the bac harness. cuz the idle was a little tweeked. i drove it about a half mile and came back and the alternator wasnt charging right cuz the idle would drop to like 100 rpms . and stall once in a while. so i went to try and adjust the idle. and noticed after about a min or 2 that the plug for the bac valve was disconnected. hooked it back up and the car jumped to life. nice , steady idle at about 800 roms . so all in all i spent about 100 bucks in tools and gaskets , and what not. now im boosting at 10 psi and have a load more power. the thursday before i pulled the turbo i dynoed the car and i pulled 182.4 hp and 150.1 lbs in forth and 175.2 and about 150.8 lbs in 3rd. im going again next sat so im kinda anxious to see what i gained. but the butt dyno is happy with the results .
