I know with a lot of Nissan plugs, you can just re-pin them rather easily.

Do I have to cut the plug off the harness and solder on the new one or can I just re-pin the AFM plug?

You can pull the pins out with a jewlers screwdriver and then re pin them. It is pretty easy to do.
