Aesthetic Beauty

I was wanting to install a new aftermarket steering wheel in my '88 Fc conv. and i was wondering if it is a matter of mdifying such as an adapter or if it's finding the wheel with the right measurements... if it's the latter does anyone know them? Thanks for your time

Howdy, Iam think that you need an adapter to modify it, and some special tools, but iam not sure.

I've been looking at some brands and they also have adapters but i can't find if they are for certain cars or simply for the steering wheel in general

if you search around enough using the search function in the upper right hand corner I'm sure you will find your answer.

I bought a steering wheel off ebay that came with an adapter. Fairly cheap but you get what you pay for!

there are momo hubs on ebay, I wouldn't suggest a no-name brand, I've heard stories about them stripping and then you're steering wheel doesn't work anymore.

and yeah, they're decently easy to install.

I've been using a ebay hub to a grant steering wheel for about 3 years now on 5 different cars and haven't had any issues. But I guess YMMV.

If you have the bread, get a good hub and a cheap *** steering wheel. A wheel is a wheel, no matter how you think about it. I personally can't justify spending 150$ on a circle of plastic with cloth wrapped around it...

momo hubs cost like $50-60 or something. I'd rather spend the extra money and not die

a lot of aftermarket steering wheels have horns. that's what the wire that comes out of the hub is for.

A MOMO steering wheel is an anatomically shaped circle of steel with leather wrapped around it so i think it's justified.

Horn? Come to think of it, none of my cars actually had a horn...

I guess you could wire it up like it was done in the thread eage8 posted.

Maybe my hub just doesn't suck and ebay quality has... gotten worse over the past 3 years? I take the whole assembly off every month or so to clean it and I've never seen any eaten up splines.

And a MOMO steering wheel costs 200$ BNIB or 100$ used.

I see no issues with ebay wheels.

My 88 GXL had power steering which made the wheel easy to turn. My TII has no PS and the smaller wheel was a bitch to turn. SO I put the stock one back on. The size will make it diffrent. I paid about $50 for my steering wheel + Hub. My old one lasted years and I had no problems what so ever.
