aem wideband question

I'm about to install one of these and have a question.

Are these built to be on all the time(whenever the cars running) or only when tuning? I plan on welding it to the bottom of a racing beat downpipe. Should I install a switch or it doesnt matter?

They are designed to operate all the time. However you don't want to mount the sensor upside down. Condensation will collect and ruin it. It must be mounted vertically with the wire facing up, at no more then a 45 degree angle (according to the datasheet for the sensor).

Its on whenever its powered. However if your thinking that by turnign it off you'll increase the sensor life then, no, it won't. Its still being burnt by hot exhaust gas whether or not its on.

But yes they're built to be on all the time.

Also, the use of racing gas shortens the sensor life dramatically.

where did you hear this from? I find it hard to believe that premix could hurt your sensor, seeing as it burns cleaner then straight engine oil burning...
