rebuild

im about to get this 91 rx7 non turbo converbite for 2 grand but it has 179000 miles on it i want to get into rotary so what should be my first steps

how could i tell i drove it , it seemed fine but once when i was at a light the check engine light came on and it bogged i shut it off then right back on and it was fine

Sounds like a dead metering oil pump.
