AEM Wideband O2 or Techedge V2.0?

I can get an AEM unit for pretty cheap, about as much as i can a Techedge one. The only thing is the AEM doesnt have a display and i was wondering if anyone knew of one that would work (maybe a techedge display?) Either way, let me know which one you think is the best bang for the buck. Thanks

Does the AEM require the use of the AEM EMS as well?

No. You can use a voltometer display and read the voltage, or you can make a display, use a TE display ect ect. I was going to use a radio shack project box and put a voltometer in it and read the voltage.

I would say go with the techedge because you can build it That was half of the fun for me. At least I built the V1.0.

I contacted AEM about thier wb o2. They are going to make a display for it in the near future. For the time being you can use a Fluke multimeter or possibly even the display from a cheap a/f meter and hook it to the 1v output on the AEM.

I bought an AEM wb for $360 shipped with the sensor from a place advertising on www.groupbuycenter.com.

That's because right now they are only selling the pre-built units.

The DYI's will be availible soon.

Bump- And does anyone know when TE is planing on puting up the DIY Kit? I think the pre-built unit is way overpriced for what you get, just my opinion. I have seen the AEM unit in person and its very solid, and very compact, not ghetto circuit board plastic box type deal (not trying to put TE down). I think for the money the AEM is a better deal, seeing that the TE and AEM units are competivly priced.

Another thing, anyone know the price range of the AEM display? Thanks.

On the getho aspect of the TE unit. It is as gehto as you make your project.

TE sends you what you need to make a very professional setup. It just depends on what level of work you are capable of or willing to make.

TE is a great product.

Are there any support forums for the TechEdge? I'm wondering if they addressed the simulated output issues...

Just to chime in.. I just bought a wide-band controller to replace my Oz 1.0 kit from plxdevices.com. It's got an integrated display, free-air calibration, is 100% digital, linear output and narrow-band simulation. Their instructions ask you to cut the sensor to wire it up only because they can't supply new connectors for the L1H1 (seems that they're scarce) but you can find a junk-yard connector and make the cable right.

It'll go on soon (Maybe tonight if I get a chance) but looks good so far. Just wanted to let you know that there's another low-cost solution.

I finished installing my AEM Wide band setup today. I am very happy with it. Sure I probably could have saved a about 50 bux from a do it yourself kit, but the amount of time to put that together would eat that spare 50 bux up in a hurry.

I am very happy with this AEM unit. It uses the LSU4.2 sensor as does the TechEdge 2.0 model. There arnt as many bells and whisles as the techedge, but simplicity is key for me. I'll show pictures if anyone wants.

Yes please do bust the pictures out! I found another DIY Wideband controler thats COMPLETLY DIY. site is www.diy-wb.com . The parts kit is like 17 something bucks but you have to get a seperate PCB, which is cheap as **** from Radio shack. It uses the NGK L1H1 sensor though, which is the pricey around 200-300 dollars. This is the price range that TE should be at (and could be, if they werent overcharging the **** out of it). Anyways, another alternative. Keep the replies coming, thanks.

A few people on the Haltech list have picked them up. Waiting for some feedback.
