Advice on possible purchase

selling my turbo II rx7 fc with a running 13b turbo. interior is gutted, car was meant for track use only thats why. car runs just idles rough in the morning as far as i know it hasnt given me any problems yet, i dont daily drive this car i turn it on everyday tho and let it idle for at least 15 minutes. car has 4 piston calipers in the front some 6 spoke rims 17's.
When I first got the car was not running but is running now

need to get rid of this asap for the reason that i lost my job and need some cash this is a unfinished project car but its a good setup

Selling as is and will make a bill of sale
I have pink slip
this is a real turbo II model

txt or email me only for now please

That's the ad on CL, and it has a few pictures, car looks really straight... has 130k original, I talked him down to 1200. he says the idle issue is likely due to the ISC, and when the car is warmed up, it runs perfectly fine.

I can afford the car, and have a few hundred left to my name, but I don't want to get screwed here... It is my understanding the s5 TII's are pretty rare....

And, buying a turbo car is much cheaper and easier than doing a turbo swap...

Advice guys?

if a gutted car is what you want go for it. its going to cost a lot to fix the interror and a headache too... but a running TII is a deal for 1,200 i bought one with a blown motor for 2,800 but the body and interror was damn perfect @ 64k miles.

If it runs like you say it does and sounds pretty healthy while running that's a pretty decent deal. Only thing besides that you're gonna have to be ok with it being gutted. Overall Its a pretty sweet deal

Go for it. Even if you have to put a lot more time and money into it... Consider it a learning experience.

Need more details on the "rough idle."

If the engine shakes and sounds like a lawnmower, then that could be a blown engine. And the car will still run and drive.

For 1200$, if the interior is the only think wrong with it, you have a steal. You can probably get an n/a that's been sitting and waiting to be scrapped for tit and steal the interior from it.

I disagree- what he's buying is a gutted shell that doesn't run properly.

The engine issues may or may not be "Because Racecar" but Bct907's "couple hundred" dollar cushion doesn't leave much room for repair...especially if emissions are a factor.

The interior is a whole 'nother issue.
It may be possible to "steal" a NA interior, if you don't mind burgundy.
You and everyone else on the forum will be fighting over black pieces (especially some of the more desirable S5 bits) and (at least out here) 7's are pretty thin on the ground in junkyards.

If this car is meant to be transportation instead of a fun side project, I don't think it's that hot.

I agree with clokker, a rolling shell with engine probles for $1200 doesn't seem great to me. S5 TIIs are getting rarer, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will command a high price down the road - especially with no interior.

If it were $1200 with an interior, it'd be a better buy depending on just what the rough engine problem really is.

He says the rough idle goes away when the car is warmed up. As far as interior, I have a spare 91 that is black on black I plan on stealing parts from for the inside. I will ask him to do a compression test. I found a way around emissions, so it's all good. =P
