Advice please.

Hello. I am new here but not to the rx7. I have had my 88 GXL for almost 12 years now and have kept it stock for the most part. I have decided to ease off of some other projects and focus on this for a while as i would like to autocross with it.. maybe hit mid-ohio a few times. I want to keep it NA and am focusing on the suspension for now. The list of whats to come soon is..
Tokiko HP struts
Racing beat susp. kit
rims/tires something lighter than stock and probably some toyos
remove emissions

I have taken very good care of the engine as it has 180,000 on it and it still holds 95psi compression when recently tested. I know this will probably not last much longer so i am tossing up a few ideas. I would like to stay NA and was wondering a couple things.
1. Should i go with street ported s5 engine with nicer clutch / flywheel and short throw.
2. Is it possible and how difficult to swap a 20b NA into the fc?

I searched the FAQ's and the boards a bit but didn't find anything specific. Sorry if i didn't search hard enough or missed something.
Thanks again.

ps. I do want to keep it street worthy but i am not worried about emission stuff. I just enjoy cruising with my son now and than. I want a nice balance of power and handleling.

Probably not worth the trouble to go to the S5 unless you are planning on racing in IT or EP. The other items are just personal preference.

It is possible, but somewhat difficult and pretty expensive to swap a 20B NA into the FC. It is usually less expensive just to swap a good used stock 20B-REW rather than completely rebuild it to NA specs. Also, unless it's not allowed in whatever class you plan on racing, you would be better off using a TII rather than a GXL for anything over 200hp. We have a 20B section on this forum with a FAQ sticky:
https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/

Also, bumping isn't allowed here. This forum is the fastest RX-7 forum on the internet anyway, so if you are that impatient you maybe need to take your Ritalin.

right about 200 hp is my goal. This car has sentimental value to it so i want to stick with it. Maybe i will convert it to TII one day but for now... Thanks for the advice.

200 HP at the rear wheels or 200 HP at the flywheel?

A freshly rebuilt NA with some readily availble parts can easily reach 200 HP at the flywheel. Taking this route is an inexpensive way to have reliable fun.

To go NA 20B is expensive. More expensive than doing a Turbo conversion. If cost is not an issue? Then go for it. The sound of a 20B is amazing.
