Advice needed on seats
Either my seats need to be re-upholstered, or I replace them. When I talk to shops about buying either Recaros or Sparcos, nobody is clear on whether adapters are available, or if I need to have my own fabricated etc.
Anyone have any advice? I don't want to put a lot of money into this.
thanks,
Rex

Must be nice living next to the Mazda headquarters
This has been covered before. Do a search for recaros, sparcos, etc.. in this section and 2nd gen archive for more.

Most seat companies have seat rails for FCs. I assume thats what your talking about. Make sure the seats your looking at arent too wide either.

funny you should ask. I just received a disposable camera that is suppose to contain pics of the OSA covers the one guy bought. (we'll see anyway). Got to get them developed first of course.
While at sevenstock, someone was recommending a process of reconditioning leather that sounded interesting (not the "leather repair kits" as seen on TV).
Of course my first words were "write up." Mabey he'll actually do it.

If I'm correct, and I may not be, sports seat companies use a universal bracketing measurement/size. That is to say that the bolt patterns on the bottom of the seat are consistant.
That said, Sparco actually makes brackets for the FC. And they don't have any in stock. The *make* them by the order, so it takes a while (like, two months, a while) if your dealer doesn't have them on shelf, and most certainly, they don't. But I'm waiting on my own right now for that very application.

FC = 2nd generation RX-7... basically part of the vin number
you'll see it mentioned in each generation as FB or SA22C is a 1st gen, FC is 2nd gen and FD is 3rd gen

You should just get 2002 Celica GTS leather buckets for your ride. That's what I have, and they fix in the car nicely.
As for brackets tho... be prepared to make your own adapters.... but hey... they look nice once you finally get them in...
I would show pics.. .but I got a new fc and haven't taken the time to put the seats in this one yet.
