advice on my gxl?

i got a 87 gxl..i was gonna put a turbo motor in it..and maybe eventually do a s5 conversion..but recently i've been looking at t2's..but the ones i've seen are either way to much or beat the hell up..plus if i do the t2 swap i'll have to put a new headliner in my car..because ******* friends burnt holeswit ciggarettes..and new seats..plus body work..would it be worth it to give up the gxl..and just get a nice t2..or just redo the gxl??i would like to get a low mile t2 but everyone on here want like 7k or even more..with 7k you think i can just redo the gxl? my 85 i redid everything for 600$..new interior, and motor with 13k original miles..but that was rolled..and i got lucky..i just have no clue..help?

imo, just keep the GXL NA and do a port and rebuild... and some other small things... it wont cost as much and itll be reliable... if you can do your own work that is...

or just take 4,000 and buy a 20B and NA it :P, you'd get just about the same results as a TII

For 7k you can do a lot of different things. You should just get a TII thats blown and spend about 3k and fix it up. It would probably be easier than turbo'ing a gxl. And a lot cheaper than buying a running TII thats probably been modded.

just keep looking around for a t2 thats cheap. it will be a lot easier if you just buy a t2.
