Adjusting TB without removing UIM?

Mine seems to be out of whack. The last time I adjusted it, I no longer had cold idle (Well... that's a good thing ), but I think the TPS values are now being affected. And it's such a pain in the **** to take off the IC to adjust it every single time.

Isnt there a way to adjust it without measuring the throttle plates deflection?

You can get to all the adjustment screws with the TB in place, but you need to set everything with the engine running. I made an intercooler bypass pipe from PVC plumbing fittings so I could idle the engine without it. It made setting the TB up perfectly very easy.

Three feet two inch long PVC pipe rated (as read on the pipe) as 2 1/4 and one piece rated at 1 1/2 inch, seven inches long. Plus one 90 degree elbow adapter from the two dimensions above.

to be used to set the fast idle cam, fast idle screw and throttle stop screw as see in the factory service manual at MANUALSMANUALSMANUALSMANUALSMANUALSMANUALSMANUALSM ANUALSMANU

NEVER drive the car with the PVC in lieu of the intercooler. The inlet and outlet temps of the intercooler are dramatic. Unless you think that 238 degree temps is the ideal temp for your engine. Then go right ahead. I've got engine part I can sell you for your rebuild.

Oh. I have my TB off right now which is why I ask. I hadn't planned on fooling with it, but I'm thinking I'll do an inspection using the Factory Service MANUALMANUAL.

If you're happy with the way your engine idles when cold then don't touch a thing. I messed with mine while doing the TB mod, and regretted it. The reason I know so much about the TB's operation is because I had to learn it to fix it!

That's a hell of a lot of pipe! I didn't use nearly that much. Mine makes a 45deg turn straight off the IC inlet elbow, goes straight across to the IC outlet elbow and does a 90deg turn down to connect to it.
MANUALSMANUALSMANUALS...
I feel your frustration.
NEVER drive the car with the PVC in lieu of the intercooler.
Yeah, I should've mentioned that. It's only for idling and maybe moving in and out of the garage.
