adjusted TPS, still idling rough
i just adjusted my tps down to 1.00 ohms. didnt change the minor idling problem i've been having. i was thinking that possibly my problem could be my oxygen sensor because my a/f gauge is stuck on slightly lean and never bounces or moves up and down, always stays in the same spot. i tried the started spray in the engine bay, no rpm raises. however, i do have a small exhaust leak. could that be causing my problem? thanks guys. -jacob

The 02 sensor does not play a part during idle. Its in *open loop* mode at idle. The 02 sensor should show less than .010 volts at idle on a car whose emissions are intact.
So describe the minor idle problem just a bit, please.

my idle goes like this: vroom, puttputt, vroom, puttputt. it gets down to about 400 rpms then catches and gets up to 1000 then falls again. does this in about one second. the guy that had my car before me adjusted the timing, do you think that could be messing with my idle? if so how do i change the timing back to normal? and if my o2 sensor is functional, what else could be making my a/f gauge not move? it is stuck a little above the minimum for lean. if the car really is running lean (it smells rich by the way) how do i change how rich/lean the motor is running?

Are you absolutely positive that you do not have an intake or a vacuum leak??? When I had my IM off, I put it back on and the car did about the same thing that yours is doing. Turns out I had a pretty bad intake leak. Have you recently taken anything apart, or did this just start all of a sudden?

Does your car start up easily? sputter, sputter, sputter, SPUTTER, VROOM!!! could spell blown engine as well. How's the compression?

unfortunately, i dont know anywhere to get a compression check done besides the mazda dealer (100 bucks) the car starts easily. i was thinking that you all could be right about the intake leak AND the boost leak. i am about to replace my turbo tomorrow evening, and i think someone installed this HKS filter ghetto style. so all this **** will be coming off and being put back on once this turbo is put on. what would it be narrowed down to if i get the intake and turbo put back on with no leaks and it still does it?
