Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

Hi Guys.

Well first off after removing my emissions I now realise my real rail is no good to use, because it has a two port fuel pressure regulator (see picture). So what i'm thinking of doing is cutting of the FPR and welding a blank on the end. Then running fuel line from The fuel return on the fuel rail to an aftermarket Adjustable fuel pressure regulator then to the return hard pipe on bulk head.

Will this work? Safe?

And also fuel presure regulators ive seen for sale range from SARD $140 to who knows what brand $50. So should i pay out and go SARD? or do the cheap ones do the same job. Also runing stock apart from emission gone.

yes, it will work. i would get an aeromotive unit. i dont know if s4 or s5 rails are different but if they are the same you can just unbolt the FPR from the s4 rail and weld a fitting to the end. thats what i did and you wont need to worry about cutting the rail.

Yes they are different, if I had an S4 rail i'd be able to keep the standard FPR as it's only got one vacuum port.(mines got two one vacuum and one controlled by emissions that i have removed)
I dont think the S5 can unbolt. Not checked as it's still on engine at mo.
Plus i prossume that to regulate pressure it partially cover the fuel return port on the rail. so if i cut off it off (or if possible unbolt it) does that allows that return port to operate fully unrestricted?

just unbolt the FPR from the s4 rail and weld a fitting to the end
I take it the fitting you welded was a fuel return? does that mean the S4 had the fuel return on the FPR because mines on the rail for sure. (check Picture)

the fpr won't come off an s5 rail unless you cut it. you can either use a AN fitting or barb fitting...depending on how much money you want to spend on the rest of the fuel system. the FPR will have a boost line reference on it already.

I'll just go barb, An would be good if using an aeromotive FPR but cost is an issue, only a student.
I'll just fab up a simple plate and use the barb that i cut off the rail then weld together, easy + a freebee.

Really just need to know which FPR to buy now, I know aeromotive has been mentioned, but costly and a bit overkill.

can you remove the rail, then cut off the s5 FPR and then drill and tap for an s4 rail? but seeing how you are in the UK s4 parts may not be that common over there...

I don't know about the two port regulators but a B&M regulator made for a Honda/Acura will replace the top of the stock unit and make it adjustable. They are about $50USD.

I dont think this will work, You cant get the FRP off it needs to be cut off, Earlier models can unbolt from rail.

Yeah over here the S4 are all N/A and S5 are all turbos, No such thing as a S4 turbo or S5 N/A here.

Plus really doubt that after cutting of the FPR, the inner diameter of the fuel rail will be small enough to tap for the S4 FPR.

I have decided what i'm doing with the rail, just want a after market FPR now
