It's neither fair nor logical to compare the FC to the FD, they are two different animals.
By the time of the S5 the FC had turned into a GT, a comfy semi-sporty highway cruiser.
The FC interior is (seemingly) much larger, airier, brighter and, in the case of the doorpanels, much plusher, too.
The FD was a "return to the roots" with a stiffer suspension, tinier cabin and focus on handling.
It's much more tiring to drive long distance.
The FD has the better looking body.
