Add coolant question

i've searched and read a bunch of threads about the add coolant light/buzzer from hell but im not exactly sure what the problem is with my situation so i figured i'd ask and get a quick answer

So a few weeks ago the buzzer starts coming on, Add Coolant. So, i add coolant, add a little oil. the light still stayed, but would turn on and off which makes me think its an electrical issue. So last night i added some more coolant to the opening a bove the thermostat and now today shes shooting coolant all over the place and my car is smoking. i figured that the coolant going everywhere is form me adding too much coolant, but im not sure.

do i need a new thermostat? or is it the wire that connects to the top of the radiator or what? i need to fix this quick cause the urge to kill rises everytime that buzzer comes on and someone else is in the car with me. Thanks guys

ok new question:

i bled the system of air with the bleed screw and adding more coolant, seems to have worked. The only thing that troubles me was that when i toped off the system at the opening near the thermostat, a little stream of bubbles came up that lasted for a little bit. i know that a stream of bubbles means a blown coolant seal....i took her for a spin and the add coolant light never came on and the temp stayed where it is supposed to be [a little less than half way]

Opinions? ideas?

You had air in your coolant system, that doesn't mean you blew a coolant seal. It's normal to get bubbles when you're topping off/ bleeding the system.

Also, be sure to turn the heater on when you're topping off. Otherwise you can get air trapped in the heater core & associated hoses.

Coolant going everywhere??? Blown coolant seal

No such thing as excess coolant. You can't put too much in, because it will flow out the place you are putting it into.

well i barely made it home today without the thing completely over heating [the gauge was nearly at the H of death] and it was only a 4 mile drive...

i open her up and shes smoking like crazy because coolant is coming out of the top of the thermostat. Should i replace the thermo? it seems like it isnt opening, how could i tell?

i would definitely replace the thermostat. i did the same mistake and it costed me a radiator and an overheated 13b (luckily, i didn't fry any seals). it would be the cheapest thing to do anyways. if that doesn't work, then you could at least eliminate the theromstat.

If you have an S4, correct.

S5s have no bleed screw, just the one radiator cap.
