Add Coolant Light

Finally fixed my alt and now the car seems to be alot better than before, but I'm having another f$%king problem. I get that long *** buzz, than the ADD COOLANT light comes on, so I add coolant and it still buzzes.

I added coolant all the way to the top, and bled the system at the same time using that screw on the side of the radiator. I did the bubble test, started car cold, nothing came out, 20 or so seconds the coolant started overflowing . Than it kept going until I put the cap back on.

What do you think is up? I'm praying no more bad news.

Was the coolant buzzer going off when the system was filled?

Well I'll refill it today and find out if it goes off again.

I'm praying to god it's not a coolant seal.

sounds like something is blocking the water passages keeping the water from flowing all the way up to the top and thus the sensor. i think you are due for a thurough flush and cleening on the radiator.

It that were true, then the entire upper radiator tank would have to be blocked. This would quickly cause overheating, so I highly doubt that's the problem.

If filling the cooling system stops the warning but it comes back again later, then you have a leak somewhere. In that case have the system pressure tested to see if you can locate the leak.

Also test the warning system (as per the FSM) in case it's an electrical problem.

OK, how do I test the warning system?

Also, the car does not overheat whatsoever. It's a little above the C on the temp guage. I ran it for hours before without a single overheating problem.

You dont test the FSM. You read it. FSM=Factory service manual.

EDIT: go to www.fc3s.org and click on how to's and then click on manuals.

Obviously the cooling system section since you are asking about coolant.

The warning system is covered in the Body Electrical chapter.

Well I followed the coolant guidelines, and I added coolant to the resoivor and to the main coolant tap. Bled the coolant system twice, while adding coolant, and after that I started the car without a problem. I'm praying it solved everything. But when I opened the main cap for the coolant it was empty to the bone. Now it's pretty much all the way to the top, so we'll see what happens. Thanks guys!

I take it that it was fine by the total lack of a follow up

I'm having the same problem right now, except my coolant top coolant hose doesnt pressurise.

Also when the car is running with the radiator cap off, the waterlevel rises and slowly goes over . . . is that normal expansion, or a bad seal?

Cuz this engine is, almost completely perfect! It runs and idles strong, like OX! It would agrivate me to NO END if the bloody thing lost a coolant seal.
