ACV venting noise
ACV venting noise
Ok, so the acv has that hose running out of it and into the passenger side fender, right? Well thats where extra air goes when the acv vents. Mazda has some big silencer on it so its all quiet and stuff but i was thinking....
Being a t2 owner wannabe, I think it might be nifty to have some kind of blow off noise at a certain rpm(4500 is it?) like a blow off valve in a turbo. I was just going to disconnect the hose from where it goes into the fender... I realize that it won't be anywhere near as loud as a bov, and that it won't make noises when I shift, only past a certain rpm, but I think it might be neat. Anyone else done this? What do ya'll think?

Hey, since nobody answered, i went ahead and disonnected the hose, right at the acv... and it sounds sweet! Its incredibly annoying, but cool at the same time.. I would encourage anyone to do it, but i dont know if there are any ill affects... none that i can see anyway, someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Interesting...
Jesse,
Thanks for telling me about that. It's an interesting noise, but I'm not sure if I like it yet. I wonder where exactly that hose goes to. If I keep it removed, I will take out the whole hose to save some weight.
Maybe I could put something else on the ACV to get a different sound out of it.

I took mine off and put it back on after driving around the block. The sound is a little too wierd for me. Now if there was a way to hook up something that makes a noise on shift. . .
now if i had a turbo . . .

I like the sound. Some of the guys said it sounds like an Indy car. It's cool!
