Unhappy Acv Problems Still!!!

I had a problem with my acv since i bought the car a year ago. If i spray starter fluid down the inlet hose of the air pump the car about dies. Hailers has helped me alot with this in understanding how the acv system works and what to look for to try for diagnosis. I've tried everything i think to no avail yet.

Well i got really brave and went to Mazda and bought a bran spankin new S5 acv. Put the new one on with new gasket and what do you think happened, the car still just about dies if i spray down the air pump inlet hose(drops about 300 rpm). This problem has been haunting me since i bought the car....Please i need some more help!!!!

If you dont have emissions where you live why not ditch the airpump and ACV? Seems your problem is elsewhere. Why would you spray starter fluid into the inlet hose of the airpump anyways?

So what exactly is your problem? I cant really tell from what you wrote other than it almost stalls when you spray starter fluid ino the air pump inlet.

i have a low idle and yes i do have emissions where i live. The reason why i sprayed starter fluid in the acv is because i am trying to find a vacuum leak. Which after spraying down the whole entire engine and all the vacuum diaghrams, the acv is the only thing that i can find a leak. Which the acv should not, unless decelerating, leak air into the intake.

How about that round disk check valve that is in the intake manifold behind the acv, if this were to go bad could that leak air into the intake????

No. That checkvalve that looks like a spoke wheel does not lead to the intake manifold. It goes to the exaust ports before the exaust manifold. Not your problem area.

The only place the airpump air can possible get to the intake manifold is thru the anti afterburn valve outlet. One of those small holes on the acv. Either that or the gasket for the acv is leaking b/t that passage and another area of the acv.

A really low idle might be the BAC not working. When at idle and fully warmed up, pull the plug off the BAC. The idle should change and idle a touch lower. When you put it back on the idle might surge for three or four times before settling down. See what happens.

Are you using the correct ECU? are you sure the injectors match the ECU?

Okay Hailers if i pull off vacuum hose F in that schematic the acv dumps the air overboard and out the bottom outlet of the acv, and get this i can spray a whole can of starter fluid down the inlet of the air pump and not effect the idle at all?????Have i found my problem???

I'd say it's inconclusive. When you take vacuum off the Relief Solenoid (pull hose off), the relief valve opens and lets all the airpump air dump overboard. So now the starting fluid is going overboard instead of thru that leaking anti afterburn valve port. It won't go there because there's no airpump pressure to force it thru the anti afterburn valve.
