Acv? Bac? Egr?
What do all the 3 letter names stand for? What do they do? Where are they located? Do I need them?
I am currently installing a hybrid turbo and Haltech E6K on my 88 AE. What of the afore-mentioned things do I need, and what do they do? I want my engine bay to look as clean as possible, so anything that is not necessary is going. I have already removed the A/C, p/s, air pump, and all the vacuum lines that run under the intake manifold. What else needs to go?
thanks,
Kris

Thank you for that great page Ted, but am I ok to remove these? I have a general understanding of what they do, but I do not know how the engine is going to respond without them.
thanks again,
Kris

If you don't need any emissions, the ACV and EGR valve can go.  Use block-off plates to covers the holes back up.
The BAC valve is used for idle control, and I would recommend to keep it for the time being...
