VT Actuator question, not about not working

Ok my question about the 5th/6th actuators are there any common issue with them besides them not working? I ask as I have this rattling noise. You hear it whether at idle or driving. Its a small rattle and I have narrowed it down to the actuators. What looks like some sort of clicp, maybe, I really have no clue as to what they are actually called.
Hopefully someone could help me out. Im also unsure if they are even working, yet to do the test, but seem really stiff, to move them by hand. Although there seems to be no lose of powere so I assume they are working. But if they are not, Maybe this is due to the parts that are rattling?
I could take a pic and video of the noise and point to what is making the noise, if it would help..
Thanks all.

The actuator rod has a little rectangular plastic piece on the end. Where the rod arm connects to this piece, there will be a cir-clip. There should be another where the plastic piece slides onto the arm inside the LIM. It's not a tight fit, it has to be able to move, so you might have them rattle if your idle is rough enough.

I'll bet that the manifold heat shield UNDER the port actuators is loose and causing that rattle!.
It often just "lets go" and rusts off the exhaust manifold.
and it is a Beotch to cut from around the o2 sensor!..BUT it can be done( on a COLD car!).
let me know if I am right?ok?
cheers.

Its not the heat shield, that is rattling, but not it. I hold my hand on the little clips (its basically on the rods of the actuators) and the rattle stops. Im gonna take a pic and vid of it. Dont mind the exhaust leak lol..
I dont see plastic clips, only the metal ones that are rattling.
