ACT HD Clutch vs ACT Extreme

Both are 6 puck are they not? Whats the big difference? Have anyone run the 6 puck HD and it not held? IO have an ACT SS in now and it will not hold. 410rwhp.

Check with ACT. If the clutch you have is rated for that HP, give them a call with proof from a dynolog, and tell them you expected better.

$10 says you'ld get either your entire money back, or they'll send you one of their best street/strip clutches they make.

HD is 417ft/lbs and the extreme is 527ish ft/lbs from the ACT website.

Does anyone run an ACT 6 puck clutch? How does it work on the street? Very abrupt engagement or is it livable?

If you mean the clutch kits, the 6-puck kits both use the 6-puck clutch disk..same with the organic kits and the regular disk...the differece is the extreme uses a heavier pressure plate then the HD, which gives you more clamping force, at the expense of a heavier pedal and more stressed clutch hydrolics. The stock hydrolics are already pretty stressed with the HD plate I beleave, so I'd go with the HD unless your making too much power for it.

Most people tend to think a 6-puck SPRUNG clutch is pretty livable on the street, unless your really picky about clutch engaugement and that kind of stuff. An UNsprung 6-puck clutch will be a bit harser, but still pretty doable if your up to the task.

I have a 6 puck with a HD pressure plate. I like it alot for "spirited driving" but you will hate it in traffic. You have to give it alot of gas when you launch or you will get some serious chatter that will rattle your spine. But mine is not a daily driver so it doesn't see a ton of traffic. But I just love down shifting and having the clutch stop the car.

Its all the pressure plate..... the extreme pressure plate is pretty heavy to push, but not a monster... if you are going to get an Extreme PP... do yourself a favor and get a braided stainless clutch line as well, it made a WORLD of different for me. The clutch felt mushy with the stock clutch line and engaged right off the floor even with some tinkering with the adjustment it was still pretty bad.. the SS clutch line fixed 'er right up and now she engages right where i want her to!

thanks for the input all. I just replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders and also installed a braided SS line. I have other problems besides the clutch not holding like I think the fork is cracked. Gonna get a new one or get the current one beffed up and while it's out go ahead and do the 6 puck. Guess I'll try the HD first. If it still doesn't hold I'll change out the plate.

I was in the same boat with my ACT XPP. I think I will take your advice and do that. Its known to be hard on the hydraulic system.

I think I messed up my clutchfork or TO bearing with that PP, since I can barely push the pedal to the floor anymore even with new hydraulics. Time to pull the tranny
