ACT Counterweight ?

Anybody tried to use the CW02 Counterweight with NA ?

Cuz as far as I know counterweight is the same for 1986-1995 RX-7 N351-11-521

ACT listing the CW02 as "ok" to use on all turbo S4/S5/S6. so is it safe to say its "ok" to use CW02 for NA as well?

cuz Mazda's Counterweight is NLA new from Mazda

I know I can get it used. Just want to know the answer

they know F#CK ALL

s4 is NOT the same mass as the s5 /FD one
s4 uses a unique counterweight for its unique mass rotors
turbo and NA does not come into the equation,, s4 is s4,,, s5 is s5 and is also the same as FD

to promote this mass for s4 ,, when it is clearly NOT
makes them liable for a whole pile of warranty claims from people who try and fit this to an s4 engine and it kills the rotor and stat bearings

86-88 13B,,turbo and non turbo =
N327-11-521A

[QUOTE=bumpstart;10550422]they know F#CK ALL

Sorry to butt in but when it comes to rotors and counter weights I know about the same as ACT, even less.. Very simple question I have two drive trains both 86 fc #1 is a 13b na with an auto trans ,, #2 is a 13b na with a standard trans .. next winter I plan on building another drag bike with a cross mount engine, no trans Just a jack shaft then to the rear wheel ,.. Question !! Can I install the stock #2 flywheel and clutch assembly onto the #1 engine by just removing the counter weight .. I have read many threads on this subject and by the end of the day I am just more confused..

On Mazdaspeed rebuild page

COUNTERWEIGHT - REAR N351-11-521 1 From A/T for use with lightened flywheels

and it applies to ALL rx-7 model from 1986-1991.

and on FD's rebuild page, it list the exact same Counterweight.

Thats why I ask --- cuz if Mazda saids ok then why not ACT?

as was previously said, the s4 is different. if you want to risk a motor, go ahead. better safe than sorry IMO.

both are incorrect, even mazda makes mistakes.

86-88 and 89-95 should have 2 different counterweights. ACT doesn't make their own counterweights either, they are mazda OEMs that they sell. you can get a new OEM counterweight for the same price as the ones that ACT sells anyways, so get the correct one and eliminate the possibility of them getting you the wrong one.

Well, I don't cared about S4 cuz mine is S5 I was just pointing out stuff from MazdaSpeed's page. it could be wrong but hey, again, I have an S5

the reason why I asked because Mazda's N351-11-521 counterweight is no longer available and the only place you can still get them new is ACT's CW02 counterweight.

I asked ACT's owner couple years ago and he said their counterweight is slightly better balance than Mazda's part. Im using their counterweight for my Rx-8 (CW03) and I don't have any problems. just saying.

so back to the original question ---- 89-1995 Rx7 uses the same counterweight, so I guess its safe to use ACT's CW02 for S5 NA too ? cuz on ACT's page CW02 is not listed for 1989-1995 S5 NA, only for Turbo. I should ask ACT directly I guess ? but they're close over the weekend guess I will ask them tomorrow.

For future searches:

Match the counterweight to the engine's series, not the drivetrain's (if they differ).

then I guess it's safe to say ACT's CW02 works for all 1989-1995 Rx-7 then. Cuz Mazda list the same counterweight on parts page for both S5 and S6. S4 counterweight is different if you go to their part's page, but if you look at Mazdaspeed's rebuild page, it just list 1 counterweight which is the S5/S6 counterweight.

if ACT knows how to better balance the counterweights than mazda does, why do they not know that the n/a and turbo are the same part # to sell more products?

he's feeding you some bullshit, i doubt they touched them at all. they took them out of the mazda plastic bag and put it into a shrink wrapped ACT package. i use ACT parts all the time but i will say that they only sell the counterweights because they are NECESSARY for their flywheels, if they're remachining them i honestly probably think they are hurting the balance versus helping it(does ACT regularly pull apart rotary engines to see the effects of their "balancing", they're a clutch manufacturer so i seriously doubt it).

ACT makes some of the best clutches on the market but i wouldn't take advice from them on how to build a motor.

i have no idea why the S5/6 are no longer available but i guess that's good for me since i have about 4-5 of them sitting around. but n/a or turbo, it doesn't matter.

I have no idea if he said its better balanced then just believe it is hahaha.

I got it for my rx-8 cuz I picked it up for cheap couple years ago ... cheaper than Mazda's part even with my racer discount. so I don't see why not

I don't know why S5/S6 counterweight are NLA either, that's what it saids on Mazda's database. when I was checking it (cuz its only like 100 something bux) and it shows it as NLA I was like ... WHAAATTTT ??!?!?!?!?!

if you have 4-5 of them sitting around then it might worth more later
